Hi people.
Things are
incredibly crazy around here! Haha! To start, I have 2 new companions-- kind of. Haha!
SO what happened was, one of the
Assistants called me to ask me something about a video we worked on when I was
STL and get the files to him. Long story
short, at the end of our conversation he said, "How is all of your
relationship with your landlord?" I
was so caught off guard because he is the nicest guy and was so willing to help
with the house and things. I didn't know why the Landlord would even have any
problems. So I asked him why he asked me
about our landlord and he said that the contract that we signed as a church was
to only have 2 people in our pad-- and obviously we are in a trio.
So, we went
to stake conference and when I met president and shook his hand he asked to
talk to me after stake conference was over. So I went to find him after the
meeting and he pulled me aside to tell me that our landlord [despite trying to
negotiate] needed us out of the pad by the end of October. He told me that he
needed me to pack my bags and take it to the Spanish sister’s apartment and
sleep there for the next 2 weeks. I honestly feel like a floater missionary. It
is weird, kind of almost like I don't have a companion. President said the English
sisters are still my companions and that I will need to be driven from place to
place. It’s only been one night so far. Things are going well so far :)
We have
regular interviews tomorrow with President. I am interested to see what he is going
to say to me. It'll be weird because I
have another interview exactly a week later.
Judith is
having two things done at the doctor around the date of her baptism and she
would have to miss church because she would be prepping for what they are going
to do, and recovering following. So with
some discussions we have come to decide, with our Bishop that she will be
baptized November 22 so that she can attend the week before and the week after.
We are so excited for her- and she is so excited. She has given us 3 referrals. She told us today that she is going to start a
soup kitchen and that she was at the bank getting things figured out with that.
She has the MOST giving heart of anyone
I know. She really is such a great
example to ME of what charity looks like and what it means to love people. We have been meeting with her lots, especially
because we thought her baptism was going to be happening sooner. She is very prepared and just loving and
eating up the scriptures. She has been
caught off guard by the man that is over her assisted living facility. He has
really be trying to sway her-- but she is so convinced that it is Satan bringing
this to her, and that she shouldn't listen to what he says. I am happy that she
is so strong, and that she is so committed to living the gospel. #realgrowth my
friends.
I wrote that
blogpost this week-- it was a good opportunity to reflect on the last 18 months
of my mission. idk... it’s hard to see this all come to an end. Harder than I
ever imagined. I know some missionaries that aren't in love with their mission,
and it makes me so sad. I just want everyone to love it as much as I love it. I
have been learning, along with everything else-- you get what you give.
We had a
really fun time this week with the Trunk-or-Treat at the church! The Spanish
ward and us were both there and they put on a chili cook-off and some people
that had never come to church before won! There was a huge turn out! :)
Everyone was excited to dress up and trunk or treat. A whole family that the Spanish
missionaries are working with came. The Lewis family that we are working with
came, with their 8 year old daughter's friend. We were also able to have a
woman that we taught last week come! A returned missionary that is in our ward
was knocking doors for his solar business [bug boy type deal] and she was
interested in him as a person. She kept
saying that she was so interested in how a young boy could be such a good kid.
She said that just talking to him she knew that he was different. She is an older woman and teaches high school
kids. She had a WONDERFUL time at the activity and she LOVES when we come and
teach her. She has so many wonderful questions too. It has been exciting to see
South Shore EXPLODE before our eyes. These are nothing short of miracles, and the
Lord-- without a doubt-- loves His children. He just wants us to be the tools in His hands
to really be able to reach out to others. When we really come to learn the first and the
second great commandment then we start to really understand just how we can
share what we have with others so that others can benefit from it too. Marylou
will be coming to church next week with Tyler, the member.
We had one
funny experience with Tyler and Marylou. We went over and taught her once, and
then when we were all at the trunk or treat she said that the people at her
high school were telling her about polygamy. Funniest thing was the people were
telling her that the three of us were married to Tyler... so we had some
serious clearing up to do! Haha!
