Things are going so well here! Lots to update and almost no time! Ha-ha
Sooooo. All of our investigators are just amazing.
To start off- Satan all of the sudden cracked down on us. I haven't felt the adversary like this in a
while. It’s sure interesting to see how
the times when Sister Blosil and I are most obedient in the small things
Satan is just trying to get us more and more. It’s kinda fun to know we are ticking him off.
I don’t have to have charity for him, do
I? ...don’t answer that.
Sister Blosil and I are realizing the importance of our little
'family', if you will, staying strong. Satan
gets families and tries to destroy them. We see it over and over again in the world. When the family is destroyed we can’t be
eternal or receive the blessings he has in store for all of us. Or all you preach my gospel junkies "the
family is the most important social unit in time and eternity..."
therefore- my current family, my family in the mission is my companion; and he
wants us to not thrive. Especially as
missionaries. So double whammy. Sister Blosil and I have been talking about it
a lot. It really is just so important
that we have charity for one another and work together as a unit. We strive to
think positive things about one another and because we are both such words of
affirmation people, we strive to go the extra mile and complement one another
on things we see :) It is amazing how
much my love for her grows more and more. :) The Lord continues to bless us with miracles!
This week-- we had a baptism from the elders from Bushwick they were teaching a sister. We were in charge of teaching her the last
2 lessons before her baptism putting on the baptism service and helping
her get adjusted in her new ward! :) It was cool to see how she was converted
to the gospel, not the people, and she was BEAMING after she was
baptized.... let me tell you what a special day for her! We asked her 7 y/o son, who is getting baptized
in December to say the opening prayer and really the whole thing went
well. If any of you were there you would
laugh at the things that we will have to remember for next time. But forgetting to turn the water on in the
font isn’t THAT bad; right? The Lord helped our mission leader remember
though. What a HUGE blessing. I figuratively had a heart attack when we
realized we didn’t do it. Ha-ha I sang with the musical number with the elders
and Sister Blosil played 'The Baptism Song' It was a great day for her- and the
spirit was sure strong. We wanted her to
have a warm welcome so I was grateful so many members of the ward came.
Migdalia is also just wonderful! Things are going well for her! The spirit continues to teach her things. She is progressing. We were looking at old teaching records of
people that were less active, and just realized that EVERY SINGLE person that
was less active didn’t have the 'read and pray daily' checked off. Really, that
is what helps them to develop faith in the Savior, and then have a FULL
repentance. You can't truly repent and
become a forever changed person without having faith and that is what then
leads into the ordinance of baptism and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost. Without any mission component we will not
endure to the end. After we are baptized
it is also important to keep our faith strong by doing the seminary answers and
then, continually trying to repent and become better people and partake of the
sacrament! :) live the doctrine of Christ. This is what we teach all of our investigators
and is what we are trying to help Migdalia understand!
Sister Blosil has had back pain so I convinced her the
chiropractor would do the trick, so we went to Elder and Sister Hitsma's house
and both got adjusted. I am grateful I
had such easy access to one before my mission.... that’s for sure. It was a little bit of a trek to get there so I’m
glad we got permission. it’s nice to
have a chiropractor in the mission! My
bag has been the biggest life saver of my life. I don’t have NEAR as much back
pain and has been such a blessing. Missionaries
all see it and want to get it- it is just so practical and just the right size.
Never thought I’d be cool wearing the ugliest fanny pack bag. Hahaha it’s neat
to see how the priorities change.
Last week we started teaching a woman, her 12 year old
son and her 2 year old daughter! This
is the family that Sister Blosil called and invited to be baptized! Um. Hello. They are so ready! On my whole
mission this is the first lesson that I really felt like I could teach as
JaLynn Lucy Freeze, about the doctrine of Christ. Not as some robotic missionary. It was so nice for me to feel as though I was truly
being led by the spirit and being able to help her understand. :) She was able
to come to the last part of church and to the baptism which was so neat! Her 12
y/o son LOVES church and Young Men’s and is going to thrive in the gospel :) I
look forward to seeing the changes that happen. There is a wonderful member
that introduced them to the church. She is AMAZING! She really is fearless when it comes to
sharing the gospel and you can see the love she has for others. The lord sure
prepares a way for his children to receive the gospel and I’m grateful these
people are being led to us, and us to them.
In NY it’s really confusing. So to answer your question the areas people
live in (the neighborhoods) are named something to break things up- but I
live in Brooklyn. So the chapel is in Midwood and I live in Kensington- but it’s
only a few blocks away. And it’s all in Brooklyn. Confusing, I know.
I bought a frame for the picture you sent me of JaNae's subway
art thing. It was like a $1.60 or something
so I figured I may as well see it.
I was really sad we didn’t get to see the RS broadcast. It starts at 8pm here and got over
at 9:30.... and we have to be home at 9. So, we went to our investigators house to
watch it with her and let her see what kind of neat group of women she would be
joining, but her internet was too slow because her computer hadn’t been cleaned
in probably EVER... of course. I just wished dad was there. Ha-ha but alas we couldn’t
see it. So maybe we can find another
way. We want her to be able to watch it
too. I hear it was great!
Funny story... we were at a dinner appointment and then as we
were getting ready to go, her doorbell rang. So she went to answer the door and the door
knob broke off! Hahaha So we had to stay
there until another member came to get us out. So we were there for hours.
It was so funny.... I felt bad though...
We had a Less Active blitz last week with 3 zones! It was awesome! We looked up tons of people and have several
return appointments! We were put in
splits with missionaries from other zones and so I was in charge of leading. Quite
the new thing for me :) But I loved it! The missionary I was with had only been
on her mission for a whole week! It was
a blast! :) reminded me how much I never want to be new in the mission again ;)

I am learning lots, and so grateful for so many things.
